Grande Prairie, TX – After a competitive first round of the Region I-6A Girls Golf Tournament, Permian currently sits in seventh place. Round Two will continue on Tuesday at the Tangle Ridge Golf Club with a tee time of 8:00 a.m.
Permian turned in a team score of 349. They will be trying to chase down Carrollton Hebron (300) and Coppell (301), leaders of the tournament, after shooting 300 and 301 respectively in today’s play. Southlake Carroll is currently in third with a 304.
In the medalist hunt, Meagan Winans (from Plano East) shot a 70 to set the pace. McKinney Boyd’s Emma Thompson finished one stroke behind with a 71, and Mackenzie Moore (from Byron Nelson) turned in a 72. Permian’s Angela Aguirre and Jocelyn Dominguez each carded an 86 in the first round.
The top three teams, and top three individuals not on the qualifying teams, will advance to the Class 6A State Tournament on May 10-11 at Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown.
