Odessa, TX – While Permian and Odessa High were well represented in the Region III Gymnastics Championships, it was the San Angelo Central boys and girls that dominated the meet on Thursday and Friday at the Permian Fieldhouse.
The Central girls scored a 233.35 total to take the top spot. El Paso Bel Air and Permian rounded out the top three. Both Central and Bel Air will advance to the state meet April 28 and 29 at Euless Trinity.
Central’s Madison Vogel won the girls’ all-around title. Permian’s Isabella Fanucci and Sydney Vaughn finished eighth and ninth respectively in All-Around to qualify. Odessa High’s Brenna Waddell also earned a qualifying spot.
The San Angelo boys won the regional title with Odessa High finished second. Abilene Cooper was third to secure the final qualifying spot. Permian finished in fourth place, while also meeting the point total to advance to state.
Central’s Emiliano Hinojos and Odessa High’s Seth Regalado tied for first place in the all-around. Zachary Cordle and Sincere Galindo finished seventh and eighth place in all-around to qualify. Wesley Brown was fourth in the parallel bars, Quatre Haskins finished seventh in the pommel horse and tied for sixth on the rings to earn a spot along with Joseph Kilgore, who was also eighth on the rings.
The boys state meet is scheduled for April 30-May 1.
