Odessa, TX – Permian’s volleyball team suffered its second district loss after falling to Midland High in four sets (20-25, 18-25, 25-21, 18-25) on Tuesday in the PHS Fieldhouse.

The Lady Panthers got off to a sluggish start and that proved costly in the exchange.  Jade Workman played workhorse for Permian, leading the team with 13 kills, 20 assists, seven digs, and three blocks.  Nyxalee Munoz finished with 10 kills and eight digs, while Denali Cardenas had 14 assists for the afternoon.

With their backs to wall, the Lady Panthers put on a clinic in the third set.  With Cardenas serving, Mojo erupted with a 7-1 lead.  Workman led Permian to the ability to expand the margin to 12-3.  Midland High tried to rally back and narrowed the gap 13-8.  The Lady Bulldogs knotted the set at 21-21 before the Black-and-White regained control to take the set 25-21.

The fourth set produced an intense exchange of lead changes until Midland High owned a 12-10 edge.  Just when the Lady Panthers looked to even the series at two games each, the Lady Bulldogs utilized three runs to get the upper hand and Permian was unable to retake the lead.  Midland ended the contest with a 25-18 victory to take a 3-1 district win.

Permian (1-2) will look to restart the win streak when Abilene High (0-3) visits the PHS Fieldhouse on Homecoming Friday.
