Lady Panthers Continue The Wins

Andrews, TX – All four of the Permian volleyball teams picked up wins after a fierce battle on the varsity level at the Andrews Performance Center on Tuesday.  After taking a two-set lead, a fifth set would be needed to secure the victory.

The Lady Panthers got off to a solid start by taking the first set 25-18, and followed with a 25-10 lashing of the Lady Mustangs to go up two sets to none.  The intensity increased in the third set.  It would take a trade of digs and kills before Andrews gained a 25-23 advantage to stay in the fight.

The fourth set became a continuation of the third with several lead changes and exchanges of runs.  Permian and Andrews would take the contest to two extra match points before the Lady Mustangs could eke out a 27-25 win to knot the affair at two games a piece.

Andrews ran out of juice in the tiebreaker as Mojo reeled off a convincing 15-5 final set for the 3-2 victory.  Jade Workman led Permian in kills, assists, blocks, and aces.  Nyxalee Munoz and Anahi Orona followed in kills, with Denali Cardenas turning in 17 assists.  Iliana Garcia led Mojo in digs with 14.

Another round of tournaments will close out this weekend. The Mojo varsity will be competing in the tourney in Granbury, while the junior varsity will be in Littlefield. JV Black and JV White are slated for a road trip to Abilene on August 21.
