Odessa, TX – The Mojo Girls claimed third place in optional and fourth in compulsory, while the Boys took third in optional and third in compulsory at the Martha Mitchell / Harold Green meet held Friday and Saturday at the Permian Gymnastics Gym. The two-day event drew competitors from El Paso to Dallas.
The meet in its origin has been known as the “Mojo Invitational”. Being hosted at Permian annually, the meet name change came in 2018 to honor one of its own – Martha Mitchell. Coach Mitchell began her career as a coach and teacher at PHS and remained there for 23 years.
In Friday’s optional events, the Permian Girls finished in third place with a score of 99.50 in team standings behind Boswell and El Paso Eastwood. Isabella Fanucci took third place in All-Around, while Sydney Vaughn finished ninth in All-Around and third in Balance Beam.
The Mojo Boys also took third with a 119.80 on opening day. Chisholm Trail and Boswell were first and second place. The Panthers dominated the Rings with Joseph Kilgore leading the charge with a second place finish. Sincere Galindo nabbed third in Rings and also third in Vault. He finished fourth in both the All-Around and Horizontal Bars.
In Saturday’s compulsory events, the PHS Girls finished in fourth in team standings. Fanucci claimed third in All-Around and fourth in Vault while Vaughn secured third in Balance Beam. The Permian Boys held down the third team slot.
