Odessa, TX – The Tournament of Champions, an annual three-day event, will have the first pitch on Thursday and run through Saturday. The Permian baseball team is slated for five games, with the first against former district foe Amarillo Tascosa.
For several years, the TOC was hosted exclusively in Midland. The tournament game location expanded to include Odessa High’s Pressley Field and Permian’s McCanlies Field in 2019. After last year’s excursion from reality, the Panthers’ home field will once again host Tournament of Champions games. Mojo’s date with Tascosa will start things off with a 11:00 a.m. christening. The Rebels will hang around after that and play Lubbock Coronado and Lubbock High at McCanlies Field.
Following the opening game with Tascosa, the Black Cats will head to Midland for an afternoon meeting with Amarillo High at Lee’s Ernie Johnson Field to wrap up the first day of action. Permian is slated to play a pair of games with Lubbock High and Plainview on Friday, with both being played at Momentum Bank Ballpark. The Panthers will conclude the tournament facing Canyon Randall, which has always been a very competitive game in the past. The Raiders were tourney champions in 2017.
